WOD 01 | Splitting the Chores | Chipper

Teams will work together to work their way through each movement. Once the row is completed, they move to the cleans, and so on. One athlete works at a time. The score will be the completed time of the workout or the amount of completed reps when the time cap hits.

  • Squat Clean: Deadlift the barbell until it reaches the height of your upper thighs. Without stopping the upward momentum of the bar, violently jump and shrug upwards while simultaneously pulling yourself down. Receive the weight at your shoulders. Complete the movement by standing fully with the barbell at shoulder height. The hip crease MUST go below the top of the knee in the squatted position. A power clean into a front squat will NOT be allowed. Touch and go is permitted but bouncing is NOT allowed.
  • Burpee Over Bar: Athlete will perform a burpee touching the chest, coming to their feet, then jumping off of 2 feet over the bar and landing on 2 feet. When the athlete lands from the jump is when the rep will be counted. The athlete does NOT have to open the hips when coming up from the burpee.
  • Bar Muscle Up: Athlete must begin with, or pass through, a hang below the bar with arms fully extended and the feet off the ground. Kipping is acceptable, but pullovers, rolls to support or glide kips are not permitted. The heels may not rise above the height of the bar during the kip. At the top the elbows must be fully locked out while the athlete supports themselves above the bar with the shoulders over or in front of the bar. Athletes must pass through some portion of a dip to lockout over the bar.

Athletes will begin with a tandem run holding the kettlebell together. Each athlete will have 1 hand wrapped on the handle at all times during the run. After the run, the athletes will each have their own kettlebell and will do synchronized goblet squats while facing each other. The athletes must descend together, hit squat depth together, rise together, and hit lockout together. If not it will be a no rep. The athletes will then move into synchronized kettlebell swings. They will again be facing each other and must stay in sync while swinging the kettlebell overhead bringing the shoulders to ears. The kettlebells must remain in a swinging motion. An upright row motion into an extended elbow overhead will be a no rep.


  • Goblet Squat: The athlete will be holding each side of the handle with the bell hanging down. The kettlebell will remain against the athlete’s chest. The athlete then squats to hip crease below the knees and stands to full lockout.
  • Front Squat: The swing begins with the kettlebell off of the ground. The athlete then swings the kettlebell with straight arms overhead until the body is fully extended from the wrist to the knees.

HSPU

In round 1, person 1 does all of the deadlifts while person 2 does all of the HSPU. In round 2, person 2 does all of the deadlifts while person 1 does all of the HSPU and so on.


  • Deadlift: Hands must be outside the knees. Sumo deadlifts are not allowed. Starting at the floor, the barbell is lifted until hips and knees reach full extension with the shoulders behind the bar. Fully extending the hips, but failing to bring your shoulders behind the bar at the top will be a no rep. The arms must remain straight throughout the movement.
  • HSPU: Each handstand pushup begins and ends with the heels in contact with the wall. There will be a pre-marked line that the entire hand must stay within. At the bottom, the head makes contact with the ground. The feet do not need to remain in contact with the wall for the entire movement but must touch the wall at the beginning and end of each repetition. Kipping is allowed.

  • HRPU: The movement begins with arms fully extended at the top of the pushup position. The chest must touch the ground and the elbows must fully extend with the body completely off the ground except for the hands and toes. Masters ladies may perform these on their knees if needed.
